SEX THERAPY
Some patients with erectile dysfunction do very well with sex therapy. Also known as cognitive behavioral therapy or counseling, this involves talking with a therapist about a man's relationships and sexual experiences. These sessions can often reduce a man's performance anxiety by finding ways of dealing with stress. The goal of sex therapy is to gain some insight into the causes and reasons for a man's erectile dysfunction as well as making recommendations on how to deal with the stresses of everyday life.
Sex therapy often works best when it is used in conjunction with other modalities of treatment.
* An average treatment plan could be 2-5 sessions, each lasting about 45 minutes. While all men may benefit from sex therapy, younger and less sexually experienced men are more likely to get a substantial improvement.
Please see our Sex Therapy page for more information.
* While we
will certainly try to help all of our patients, as with
any medical treatment, there is no guarantee of specific results, as
results can and usually do vary from patient to patient. All numbers and time frames mentioned are approximate and may vary from patient to patient.
